Gospel Excellence Ministries (G.E.M.) is a tax exempt 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 1985. G.E.M has a history of awarding educational scholarships to worthy individuals and recognizing those who exemplify excellence within the realm of gospel music. G.E.M hosted awards programs throughout the early 1990’s, awarding thousand in scholarships to deserving students. Some of our most notable sponsors have been McDonald’s, The Indianapolis Recorder, and Radio One. The purpose of GEM, which is the philanthropic subsidiary of Tyscot Records, is 5-fold:

  1. To spread the gospel message to the nations through music and ministry
  2. To strengthen the moral fiber of and promote ecumenicity within the community
  3. To educate, build and empower musicians, singers, praise leaders, artists, songwriters, producers, music business personnel and others dedicated to music & the arts through workshops, seminars and interactive training;
  4. To provide opportunities for recognition of excellence in media, ministry, music & the arts within the religious community locally and nationally;
  5. To provide educational scholarship awards to qualified students desiring to further their education by obtaining a bachelor’s or master’s degree in an area related to music & the arts.

All of G.E.M.’s programs and activities, such as the Internship program, Scholarship program, Harmony Music & Business Conference and Awards program are designed to continue the rich legacy of recognition and giving that was started by G.E.M. Your investment in the music & arts ensures the preservation of our deeply rooted gospel heritage and guarantees local and national attention to important issues such as the value and impact of music and arts education.
